OUR MISSION
The Auberge Shalom Foundation supports the work of Auberge Shalom pour femmes through fundraising, stewardship, and community engagement.
The Foundation is committed to responding to the needs of individuals impacted by intimate partner violence, fostering safer communities, and ensuring the sustainability of services for generations to come.
OUR VISION
A world without intimate partner violence, where everyone feels safe and supported to live with dignity, free from fear and abuse.
shelter. empower. support.
When you give to The Auberge Shalom Foundation,
your gift goes even further:
1. Immediate Impact
You are helping to provide emergency shelter, counselling, advocacy, and essential support to women and children experiencing intimate partner violence right now.
The Foundation grants these funds directly to Auberge Shalom so that help is always there when it’s needed most.
2. Long-Term Security
You are strengthening the Foundation’s ability to build a stable, lasting source of funding.
This ensures that Auberge Shalom will be here for future generations, ready to respond to whatever challenges lie ahead.
ONE GIFT, TWO LEGACIES.
The Establishment of the Auberge Shalom Foundation
In 1989, Auberge Shalom first opened its shelter, providing a safe haven for women and children fleeing abuse.
Since then, the organization has grown to include counselling, support groups, diverse client programming, and prevention initiatives. Together, these services form a continuum of care that responds to the many and often complex needs of survivors of intimate partner violence.
During the 36 Years of Hope: Opening Doors to Brighter Tomorrows campaign, the importance of sustaining and expanding this vital work became crystal clear.
The Board of Auberge Shalom initiated the creation of The Auberge Shalom Foundation. In March 2025, the Foundation was officially granted charitable status, marking a significant step toward securing the future of these critical programs and services.
The Foundation will safeguard and amplify the work of Auberge Shalom, ensuring that survivors receive the care they need today while securing this lifeline for future generations.
Community support ensures that women and children have access to the full range of services they need to heal and rebuild in the wake of intimate partner abuse.

SHELTER
Your support ensures that women and children fleeing violence have a safe place to land.
You’re helping provide comfort, guidance, and safety when it matters most.
CLIENT PROGRAMMING
Your generosity helps counter the diverse barriers that can stand in the way of healing.
From legal and education support to creative expression workshops, you fuel the programs that help women move forward greater independence and hope.
COUNSELLING
Your gifts strengthen our ability to offer trauma-and-resilience-informed counselling.
You’re making it possible for survivors to process their experiences and rebuild with confidence.
PREVENTION
Outreach and prevention initiatives aim to break the cycle of violence and foster safer communities.
Your support helps stop abuse before it begins.
Intimate partner violence (IPV) remains a pressing issue.
Globally, more than 1 in 4 women experience intimate partner abuse in their lifetime.
In Canada, approximately 45% of teens (aged 15-17) experience dating violence including emotional, sexual and physical abuse.
In Quebec alone, 13 femicides linked to domestic abuse were reported in 2024.
These devastating statistics underscore the urgent need for comprehensive support, prevention, and education around IPV and healthy relationships.
A Community in Action
We are so fortunate to work alongside such a vibrant community of individuals and organizations who go above and beyond to support women and children impacted by IPV. Through their creative initiatives, supporters are simultaneously raising awareness about intimate partner violence and providing tangible, lifesaving support to our clients.

The Women's Powership Symposium
We want to express our immense gratitude to Lindsay Hollinger for organizing the Women’s Powership Symposium. Our team left the event truly inspired by the conversations, generosity, and vulnerability in the room.
For the second year in a row, Lindsay directed 100% of proceeds to Auberge Shalom’s Access to Justice program, which provides financial assistance, guidance, referrals, and court accompaniments to help clients navigate the legal system with confidence.
This year alone, the symposium raised over $27,000!!
Crafted for Courage
A huge thank you to the incredible Crafted for Courage team for leading such a powerful initiative!
With their vision and the generosity of countless contributors, thousands of crocheted squares were transformed into beautiful blankets.
It was truly awe-inspiring to see all the blankets laid out at the event - a symbolic safety net for women and chidlren whose lives have been impacted by intimate partner abuse.
The Crafted for Courage initiative supported four women’s organizations, with $17,000 directed to Auberge Shalom!
OUR VALUES
The Auberge Shalom Foundation proudly honours its Jewish roots by fostering a culture of inclusion, empathy, and shared responsibility for the well-being of all.
Values such as Chesed (kindness), Tzedakah (justice), Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), Kehilla (community), and Derech Eretz (treating all people with dignity and respect) inspire everything we do.
While these values are grounded in Jewish tradition, they are universal in their reach. The Foundation supports programs and initiatives that benefit survivors, regardless of faith or background.
“As a Jewish woman who had recently moved to Montreal, Auberge Shalom represented a place to access help that felt less foreign than other organizations.
Never in a million years would I imagine that I would ever need help from such an agency, but one day it all became clear to me I was that woman.
Leaving my situation would have never been possible without the support and guidance from Auberge Shalom. Their support groups offered a space to identify, share, and process what had happened to me.
They made me feel less alone in my situation. ”
